I spent the whole day outside today. Started at Stinson Beach, hiked to the summit of Mt Tam(alpais) and back down the Steep Ravine and Dipsea Trail. An amazing range of California coastal environments and the endless possibilities in nature. There will be art inspired by what I took in today:
The big redwoods of Steep Ravine Trail
The grass and the sky
One of the endless variations of texture in tree bark
A magical tangle
This is the final reward on Dipsea Trail at the end of a long hike
And last night, the third hosted art-making night of the week, making SoulCollage cards. Here are the six who showed up for me, and captions with their message to me:
I am the one who teaches the people to plant seeds and to weave
I am the one who lives portably and luxuriously
I am the one who celebrates and recognizes that art is essential to all human beings – black, white, orange, old, young, man, woman, ancient, modern, rich, poor, monochrome and colorful.
I am the one who walks breathes and sings with the trees and sees the unusual colors in nature
I am the one who never walks alone, who fights, who carries all her ancestors in her heart and between her hands
I am the one who is overwhelmed by the vortex of words and technology, but finds humor and grace in it somehow
Tomorrow, a progress meeting with the other 50|50 artists…
